High School Projects


The High School has projects scheduled for the first and second phases of the construction program.  Improving the safety and the security of the building, significant renovations to the Learning Commons, replacement of the boiler system, and new classroom furniture for students will be the focus of Phase I. Replacement of the roof and major mechanical equipment will be the focus of Phase II. Additional details are provided below:

 

Phase I Projects (April 2016 – January 2017)

  • Improved security for main entrance to building - The district will enhance the main entrance of the building to improve security for students and staff.
  • Enhancement of building security cameras and card reader access to exterior doors - Current security cameras will be replaced and additional cameras will be added to improve security inside and outside the school. Additional exterior doors will receive card reader access.
  • Replacement of the boiler system - The boiler system at the high school was the original system from when the building was built in 1963. This summer and fall, the boiler system was replaced, providing a reliable, more efficient system.
  • Renovation of the Learning Commons - What previously was referred to as the media center, the Learning Commons at the High School will receive extensive renovations to provide an open, inviting environment that can support teaching and learning in multiple formats and will include enhanced educational technology that supports learning.
  • Replacement of student classroom furniture - Current student desks will be replaced with tables and chairs to accommodate learning and the Engage 1:1 program.
  • Installation of LED lighting in the gymnasiums and pool - Installation of LED lighting will provide operational savings for the district due to reduced energy usage.

 

Phase II Projects (2019 – 2020)

  • Replacement of roof
  • Replacement of major heating and cooling mechanical systems
