In March 2007, the East Grand Rapids Community Action Council administered a survey regarding alcohol and drug use to the students at East Grand Rapids Middle School and High School. The survey was given at school, online, and anonymously. No individual student answers were read and results were reported as totals. No individual or class reports were created. Participation in the survey was completely voluntary. Students were not required to participate or answer every question asked.
In addition to the student survey, a parent survey and a community survey were also available online. All parents and community members were encouraged to complete the survey. The results help increase our school district’s knowledge about attitudes and behaviors related to youth issues, particularly drugs and alcohol. In addition, the information is used by the Community Action Council in determining its future efforts.
