Counseling Services

• full range of mental health and substance abuse services to adults, children, and families in an outpatient setting

• highly skilled, experienced professionals holding advanced degrees in psychology, psychiatry, counseling, and social work.

• helps clients who present with issues such as anger management, anxiety, depression, oppositional behavior, child abuse and neglect, eating disorders, grief and loss, parent-child conflict, personal identity struggles, relationship conflict, gender identity issues, substance abuse, and posttraumatic stress

Wellness and Prevention Services

• fosters the development of healthy individuals, families and communities by providing services that create and reinforce healthy behaviors and lifestyles and the conditions that promote them

• done through an educational process but a growing focus is in working together with communities in comprehensive planning to enhance their capacity to achieve and sustain positive system change related to prevention

 

Employee Assistance Center

• designed to assist in the identification and resolution of emotional problems that can adversely affect employee job performance, including, but not limited to: relationship problems, financial difficulties, alcohol and drug problems, anxiety and stress, anger management, elder care needs, and child care concerns. 


Medication Assisted Treatment Program

• medication used concurrently with group and individual counseling to treat persons addicted to opiates which may include the use of illegal opiate drugs like heroin and opium and/or the misuse of legal opiate drugs such as oxycodone, methadone and fentanyl

• Medical goals for treatment include tapering/detoxification, medically supervised withdrawal and long term medical maintenance.

• Social goals include lifestyle stabilization, criminal behavior termination, and harm/risk reduction. 

• All clients are treated with respect and compassion, and are held accountable for their behaviors.

Thomas L. Moore has been the Clinical Director of Life Guidance Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan, since 2000. Primary duties include clinical staff and field placement supervision, program liaison to network180 (Kent County CMHSA), program design and implementation, and training. He serves on several internal and external committees involving implementation of principles of Evidence Based Practice.
