Diversity Initiatives
East Grand Rapids High School supports several clubs that focus on acceptance and respect that are available ot East Grand Rapids High School students. They include:
Diversity Club
Foreign Language, Christy Steketee, facilitates the work and interests of students interested in reaching out to other cultures within the school community. This group also participates in the annual Peace Jam in downtown Grand Rapids.
Spanish Club
Foreign Language teacher, Kim Ibara, leads this extra-curricular club in the study of Spanish speaking countries and their cultures.
French Club
Foreign Language teacher, Julie TeWinkle, leads this extra-curricular club in the study of France and its culture.
Latin Club
Foreign Language teacher, Sue Miller, leads this extra-curricular club in the study of the ancient language of Latin and its widespread linguistic and cultural influence.
Friends Club
Friends Club offers East high school students the unique opportunity of assisting students with autism by working one-on-one in their self-contained classroom.
