Power and Voice Through TEXT

Emily Dickinson wrote, "I dwell in Possibility." Imagine that. If one rests in that great (capitalized) place of infinite choice and circumstance, what does it mean for the world? Does believing in this concept change it? Or is this statement just a lens through which one person sees her world? Is it truly the way Dickinson lived her life or is it a persona or mask she chose to explore in writing? Do those written words have any effect on its readers or the larger collective unconscious? Could they? Could yours?

People, get ready. The world is big, and our time is short. In this course, we will examine questions such as the ones above. Writers from all cultures fathom the soul of humankind; man is both hopeful and futile. As readers, we need to ask, "Why?" Art is a conversation with the unknown. And language is one powerful art, my friends. Here we will read critically, write logically, speak with presence and listen carefully. Explore your possibilities.
