Classroom Rules and Guidelines
Do nothing to hinder either teaching or learning.


Classroom Expectations:
Do nothing to hinder either teaching or learning.

1. Hablar español. - Speak Spanish.
2. Respetar a todos. - Respect others.
3. Estar listo para clase. - Be ready for class
4. Seguir las direcciones. - Follow directions the first time.
5. Organizar la carpeta. - Organize your binder.

Classroom Procedures:
1. When you return from an absence, you are expected to get the work you missed. Any work missed will be due the following class period. ***It is your responsibility to ask me what you missed and to turn it in.
2. Bringing binders, paper, pencil, and your homework organizer to class each day is expected. If you do not bring these items to class with you, you WILL NOT be permitted to return to your locker and your citizenship grade will be affected.
3. Cheating WILL NOT be tolerated in this classroom. If cheating occurs, you will receive a "0" for the assignment, quiz, exam, or project and the procedures for academic dishonesty will be followed.
4. The homework schedule will be posted on the first day of every week in the classroom. You are expected to write down the work for the entire week into your organizer. In addition, homework will be posted on the web.
5. You should use the restroom in between classes. You may use the restroom in the case of an emergency but you will be required to return to class for a few minutes during academic help of the same day.

Required Classroom Materials:
1. Large, 3-ring notebook, preferably with pockets
2. A set of at least 5 dividers
3. Markers or colored pencils
4. Loose-leaf paper to be kept in your binder
5. One red and one purple pen
6. Flashcards

Academic Help:
Academic help sessions will be held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 - 8:15. Check with me for any other times. Remember, I am here to help you if you need it --but YOU need to let me know!!
Grades:
Grades are posted online. Here are the steps.
1. www.egrps.org and follow the links to the middle school to the Staff Directory.
     2. Click on Steve Brinks and my web page will show with homework and grades.

Above 100.5 = A+
93-100 = A 73-77 = C
90-92 = A- 70-72 = C-
88-89 = B+ 68-69 = D+
83-87 = B 63-67 = D
80-82 = B- 60-62 = D-
78-79 = C+ Below 60 = E

***Because the grades are updated often, you can know your current grade in the class. If you have any questions concerning your grade, please come to talk to me about it.

You will be graded based on the following:
1. Interpersonal (in class dialogues, partner activities)
2. Interpretive (in class listening activities, many homework assignments)
3. Presentational (skits, presentations, and tests/quizzes)

*Late homework will be accepted during academic help for 50% credit. A week after the due date, homework will not be accepted.
