2007 Athletic Facility Bond Program
On November 6, 2007, East Grand Rapids Public Schools received approval by the citizens of our community to renovate and expand its Athletic Facilities through the 2007 Athletic Facility Bond Program. This program will complete a 10 year process of renovating and expanding district facilities to meet the needs of our students. Providing excellent athletic and recreational facilities to support the outstanding programs and opportunities offered to our students and community is vital to the overall success of the school district.
The Athletic Facility Bond program will provide the following to our students and community:
- Auxiliary Gymnasium at the High School
- Enhanced training facility with updated equipment
- A Field Events Center linking the track to Memorial Field providing team rooms, restrooms, track scoreboard and additional concessions.
- A plaza surrounding the Field Events Center will provide pedestrian access between the track and Memorial Field, as well as from the main High School parking lot to the City Center building.
- Additional seating at the High School community pool
- Upgrades to Memorial Field including new lights, sound, press box, scoreboard and synthetic turf
- Replacement of Mehney Field synthetic turf
- Restrooms and small concession area to support the Canepa Tennis Center

2006 Bond Program
Thanks to the support of
the community for Propositions I and II on May 2, 2006, the East Grand
Rapids Public Schools will be renovating, enhancing and expanding its
facilities through the 2006 Bond Construction Program. The
district is very excited about the continuation of improvements to the
facilities which began in 1996. Providing excellent
facilities to support the outstanding programs and opportunities for
our students and the community is vital to the overall success of the
school district.
Proposition I will add classroom space at Breton and Lakeside
elementaries, provide renovations to doors, windows, roofs and
gymnasiums and upgrade technology, security and energy management
systems at all schools.
Proposition II will provide for air conditioning in all academic areas
to address student health needs and enhance the learning environment.
