Athletic Facility Bond Program

Thanks to the support of the community on November 6, 2007, East Grand Rapids Public Schools renovated and expanded its athletic facilities through the 2007 Athletic Facility Bond Program. This
program completes a ten year process of renovating and expanding district facilities to meet the needs
of our students. Providing excellent athletic and recreational facilities to support the outstanding programs and opportunities offered to our students and community is vital to the overall success of the school district.
The Athletic Facility Bond program provides the following to our students and community:
- Auxiliary Gymnasium at the high school
- Enhanced training facility with updated equipment
- A Field Events Center linking the track field to Memorial Field and providing team rooms,
restrooms, track scoreboard, and additional concessions
- A plaza surrounding the Field Events Center provides pedestrian access between the track field
and Memorial Field, as well as from the main high school parking lot to the City Center building
- Additional seating at the high school community pool
- Upgrades to Memorial Field including new lights, sound, press box, scoreboard, and synthetic turf
- Replacement of Mehney Field synthetic turf
- Restrooms and small concession area to support the Canepa Tennis Center
The East Grand Rapids Public Schools is grateful to the community for its support of these improvements.
We are pleased to announce that the projects have been completed and our students are utilizing the
