Kent County EEE Notification - Rescheduling of Events

Thank you for your patience as we worked to reschedule a number of recent events due to the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) advisory issued from the Kent County Health Department. Until the advisory changes, we are continuing to work to reschedule events to ensure they end prior to dusk if/when possible. In order to stay up to date with the most current start time for high school athletic events, please visit EGRHS Athletics. The Homecoming Parade is rescheduled to occur during Hearts of Gold week, on Wednesday, October 16 at 4:00 p.m.

As a recap, the MDHHS and the Kent County Health Department are urging residents to take steps to protect themselves from EEE and West Nile Virus (WNV). The MDHHS is encouraging local officials in Kent County to consider postponing, rescheduling, or cancelling outdoor activities occurring at or after dusk, particularly activities that involve children.

Parents and students are encouraged to take steps to protect themselves as they travel to and from school.

The East Grand Rapids Recreation Department will separately communicate any changes to middle school sports and recreation department programs.

We appreciate your patience as we work through the details of rescheduling events.
