Science
In the K-12 Science Department, our mission is to ignite a passion for scientific inquiry and discovery in our scientists. We embrace the principles of 3D science learning, which seamlessly integrates what students do, how students think, and what students know. By engaging students in the authentic practices of science, we build proficiency and deepen their understanding through hands-on investigation, exploration of phenomena, and the development of critical thinking skills. Our approach encourages students to ask questions, conduct investigations, and develop explanations based on evidence, fostering a profound appreciation for the natural world and empowering them to become informed, curious, and innovative thinkers.
Our youngest scientists engage with a phenomenon-based curriculum through Cereal City Science, which employs an interdisciplinary approach. By utilizing inquiry-based learning, students develop both creative and analytical thinking skills through hands-on activities. This inquiry-based learning theme continues in Middle School where students continue to learn with many labs, hands-on activities, projects, and field trips. At the high school level, students can explore a variety of pathways, including standard science courses, as well as advanced options including AP Chemistry and IB Biology SL.
