PIT DIRECTOR FOR HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL
EXTRA DUTY ASSIGNMENT - SCHEDULE B

Qualifications:

• Ability to teach, delegate, motivate, encourage, and mentor high school students
• Ability to evaluate the score to determine what is needed for the performance and identify solutions if less common instruments and/or musicians are not available
• Ability to recruit, evaluate, and select students from the East Grand Rapids High School orchestra and band programs to play in the pit
• Ability to determine if/when adult, professional musicians may be needed to fill out the rest of the pit to create a complete and cohesive performance
• Willingness to coordinate with the Musical and Vocal Directors to establish clear lines of communication
• Willingness and commitment to include equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices
• Willingness to work closely with the Musical Director to ensure the pit musicians and actors perform well together
• Ability to create a rehearsal schedule for students and other musicians in collaboration with the Musical Director
• Willingness to organize and supervise moving the instruments into the pit
• Ability to conduct the score of the musical for all rehearsals and performances in the Performing Arts Center
• Willingness to be enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers and administrators

Hours: After school and evening hours
Location: East Grand Rapids High School
Rate: 4% of Step BA 1 for Pit Director for Musical
Start Date: Winter 2024/2025
