PTOC Legislative Committee

About Us

The PTOC-LC is a sub-committee of the East Grand Rapids Public Schools PTO Council (PTOC) and operates under its guidance and oversight. Our purpose is to help our school community better understand how state legislation, policy decisions, and budget developments impact East Grand Rapids Public Schools.

We focus on sharing clear, accessible information for families, especially those new to public education, while also creating opportunities for thoughtful, informed advocacy. We listen to the needs of our school community and help amplify those needs in communication with policymakers, always in collaboration with district leadership, other school communities, and elected officials.

This page will be used to:

• Share updates on education-related legislation and policy
• Explain how state decisions affect EGRPS and our students
• Highlight opportunities for families to learn more or engage
• Promote constructive, respectful civic participation

Our goal is simple: strengthen understanding, encourage civic engagement, and advocate for policies that support the success of all EGR students.

Disclaimer: As a committee of the EGRPS PTO Council, the Legislative Committee comprises parents, staff, and community members. School administrators, while not members of the committee, regularly attend our meetings so that we can share information and work collaboratively to set and advance legislative priorities that benefit EGRPS. The Committee provides information to EGRPS families through website posts and regularly communicates with state legislators.

Meeting Dates

Date: The 3rd Tuesday of every month, 9:00 a.m.

Location: Woodcliff Administration Building, 2915 Hall St. SE, East Grand Rapids, MI, 49506 in the lobby conference room. The room is located in the lobby to the right when you arrive through the front doors.
