Academic Boosters
The MISSION of the EGR Academic Boosters is to Encourage and Support the Academic Achievements of ALL Students.
The EGRHS Academic Boosters was founded in 1986 to support the academic performance of every student. Today the EGR Academic Boosters is a 501(c)(3) parent-led organization that fosters vital communication between the school and its families and gives academic improvement opportunities to East Grand Rapids students that go beyond the classroom. Proceeds from membership dues, the Progressive Dinner, and the Winter Whirl Dance allow the Academic Boosters to support direct assistance to students in these ways:
- Organize and fund Teacher-led exam prep sessions each semester
- Provide financial support to numerous EGR Academic Clubs and Student Organizations
- Fund scholarships for Top 5 Most Improved Seniors, the students that demonstrate the most academic improvement during their four years at EGRHS
- Fund scholarships for the Top 15 Seniors based on their cumulative GPAs
- Recognize academic improvement and excellence

What can you expect from an Academic Booster Membership Meeting? In addition to supporting students, Academic Boosters performs a vital role in educating parents on how to navigate the high school system to achieve every student's needs. Academic Booster meetings are held monthly for all parents. In collaboration with the administration, faculty, local professionals, the PTO, and parents, valuable information is shared about college application processes, effective parenting through social and academic challenges, new teaching methods and curriculum changes, academic extracurricular activities, and the multiple opportunities available to achieve each student’s academic goals. Guest speakers include the principal, school counselors, outside speakers as well as various East Grand Rapids Public Schools faculty and staff.
