East Grand Rapids Public Schools offers a continuum of
special education programs and services including early childhood services,
resource programs, and categorical classrooms. Special education professional
staff includes: special education teachers, school psychologists, school social
workers, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical
therapists, and teacher consultants. Our professional staff members
provide instruction and support for our students with disabilities and their families.
East Grand Rapids Public Schools also collaborates with other public school
districts within Kent County and Kent Intermediate School District to provide
educational options for our students.

The requirement for Extended School Year service is determined individually for each student by the IEP Team.

There is an online database for state and federal special education documents called the Michigan Special Education Reference (MI-SER). The Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Office of Special Education (OSE) oversees the MI-SER as part of its commitment to better serve its stakeholders.
